Arco De La Victoria

Madrid
Another one of Madrid’s many attractions is the Arco de la Victoria (Arc of Triumph). It is found outside the city centre at the Plaza de la Moncloa. It was built between 1953 and 1956 by architects Arregui, Jose Ortells, Lopez Knoll and Paschal Bravo in memory of the Spanish Civil War victory.

People also call it the Puerta de Moncloa because it will not remind of the dictator Francisco Franco. It is 40m high and actually looks older than what it is. At the top of the arch, you’ll find a statue of a four horse chariot. Inside you’ll find various planes and a representation of the University City.

If you visit Arco de la Victoria, you can also take advantage of the nearby attraction the Mirador Del Faro, which provides outstanding views of the city. The Arch is also located near Parque Del Oeste which is also very popular amongst tourists.
